“The revisions took real work, but eventually I could read my application and recognize myself in it.”

Every time I reread my essays, I wondered whether my experiences were impressive enough or whether I should start over with a completely different topic. I spent so much time imagining what an admissions officer wanted that I lost track of what I actually wanted to say. That's one of the reasons that applying to Harvard brought out a lot of self-doubt. However, my adviser listened to me so much and helped me recognize the meaning in experiences I had taken for granted. The revisions took real work, but eventually I could read my application and recognize myself in it. Getting accepted was unforgettable and I’m super grateful for my advisor.

“My advisor's feedback pushed me to be more specific about my decisions and more honest about what I learned.”

I always wanted to apply to Georgia Tech, but I found it difficult to write about my interests without sounding overly technical. I could explain how a project worked, but I struggled to explain why I started it, what went wrong, and what kept me interested enough to keep trying.

Summituni helped me a lot with that. My advisor's feedback pushed me to be more specific about my decisions and more honest about what I learned. My adviser also helped me organize revisions around my schoolwork, so everything felt more manageable. When I finally got accepted, I was so proud that I had submitted an application that reflected my interests and my personality as well.

“I still had to put a ton of work, but I still felt supported.”

That's why applying was difficult for me, cause of the time management. Between classes, extracurricular commitments, different application requirements and everything, I constantly felt like I'm forgetting something. Even when I was working hard, I wasn’t always sure I was spending time on the right things. But then my advisor helped me so much by breaking up my work into smaller steps, setting priorities, he also made time for feedback before deadlines became late. So I especially appreciated knowing who to ask when I got stuck. I still had to put a ton of work, but I still felt supported. Receiving my Northeastern acceptance was such a happy moment after months of work. And that's why I have a lot to thank for my advisor Max Hong, he's the best.

“Through several drafts, my application became more focused and personal, while still sounding like me.”

Before working with Summituni, I thought a strong application meant I just had to put in all of my achievements. My essays were just full of a lot of things I had done. My adviser (Grant Grubor) helped me slow down and think about which experiences actually mattered to me, including very small moments I actually didnt even consider writing about. Through several drafts, my application became more focused and personal, while still sounding like me. Getting into WashU was incredibly exciting, but I still kept contact with my adviser and feel like I also have found a really good friend as well.
