UCAS

United Kingdom

Five choices, one personal statement, and a calendar that starts earlier than families expect if Oxford, Cambridge or medicine is on the list.

A stone university quadrangle in morning mist.
  1. 01

    The system

UCAS caps you at five courses. The personal statement has to carry all of them. Oxford and Cambridge, medicine and a few others close early and add tests plus interviews.

  2. 02

    Tests and writing

Some courses want UCAT, LNAT, admissions tests or a written assessment. Predicted grades, the reference and the statement have to agree with each other. Interview practice is part of the plan when the course asks for one.

  3. 03

    Money

Home and international fees are different worlds. Student finance exists only for people who qualify. For everyone else we put tuition, housing and the visa in one number before you apply.

  4. 04

    After the offer

Firm and insurance choices, then CAS, the student visa, housing and travel. If a family has a UK status question, we sort that before the visa, not after.
